Writing to announce very special event out here on Friday the 13th of May at the Center For Symbolic Studies (home to the Joseph Campbell legacy) in the New Paltz Community.

Mercuralia (mer-cure-Ale-E-ah) is a modern re-creation of the ancient festival of Hermes (Mercury, Thoth, Ganesh, Papa Legba, Loki/Heimdal) in dance, music, costume, fire & art.
It will start at dusk with the first beat from the dj and the first lighting of the sacred fire and will last till dawn the following morning. Haj (Freek factory, Body Temple) & Mikio (Founding DJ of The Frolic) spinning, Serpentessa and her snakes bellydancing and leading the crowd in a living caduceus ritual, Freek Factory Dancers, Body Temple, the big CSS Beltane puppets, fire twirlers, live performance over the DJ beats (see site for lineup), Optical Delusion’s light show, a mythic art show, full on amplified sound at covered stage/dancefloor, fire circle and stone circle.

So join us in honor of Hermes god of communication and misinformation, life passages and transformation, patron of merchants, travelers and thieves, the alchemist, trickster guardian of the threshold. Join us under the stars, multicultural tribal electronic dj rhythms throbbing, in once again honoring Hermes on his feast day and in dancing in this rapture of body, heart and spirit.

Admission is $10 with an additional camping fee of $5 if you are staying over.
