Re: Body Temple New Year Party
Sat, December 29, 2007 - 4:12 PMI heard a lot of conflicting things, but what I think it boiled down to was personal differences and disagreement about finances.
And I hear you, I'd come from Boston to Body Temple events, especially New Years. Magical things.
Now there's Cosm, where I love to go, and there's metalforce (www.6362metaforce.net/party_i...on.html) whose parties I have not yet attended.
The problem with Cosm is that the space is much smaller, but it has such amazing people that I could care less.
Also, fortunately for me the scene here in Boston has gotten a jillion times better over the last 2 years, so I can have similar parties closer to home. -

Re: Body Temple New Year Party
Sat, January 5, 2008 - 3:47 AMGreetings.
I am the Creator of Body Temple. I have made it a policy to be in the background and not be outspoken. I like the art to speak for itself. I am so touched by your love of Body Temple. I wanted to clear up some mysteries, and say HI!
To the question "what happened?" to Body Temple; It has nothing to do with finances, there were never any. We would break even, with enough to keep us going with monthly events, for over 4 years. Personal differences? You try to bring together upwards of 35 people, all with different backgrounds and experiences, and see if there are no personal differences. The basic and short answer of what is happening with Body Temple is, I as an artist just needed to expand my creativity.
I needed a break from doing these life consuming "magical things". I was spent. I took a sabbatical in 07, from so many things in my life. I chilled, rested, did yoga, meditated and dreamed. I came back with the remembrance of how I originally saw Body Temple transforming over the years.
Back in January of 2002, I made a commitment to reactivate a project that I started in 1992 called Night Vision. Night Vision was a performance company that fused together interactive theatrical experiences with magical and shamanic rituals ,live music and Dj's. We performed at outdoor festivals , as well various East Village performing spaces. It was the basis of Body Temple. It ended in 1997 because of financial difficulties and divorcing my first wife.
Four months after 9/11 and feeling the city's heart open I decided to awaken the project. But this time i made it less theatrical, and more dj based, as well as shamanic and holistic minded. I felt that our tribe needed a healing and grounding celebration and something more contained then the wildness of Night Vision. But I always knew that Body Temple was a stepping stone to other projects. And now coming back into the world, I am creating these other projects.
Body Temple is not ending, it is transforming. It is a part of a continuum that started with Night Vision in '92 and will continue with these new creations. Many of the same artists from Body Temple will be involved in these new endeavors. If you like Body Temple you will be excited with what I am cooking up.
Thanks for all the love and support...
